Question:
can someone critique my thesis and opening paragraph would this work for a compare and contrast essay for all three versions of frankenstein?
All three editions of Frankenstein, Mary Shelly's original text of Frankenstein, the 75th anniversary movie version starring Boris Karloff, and the 1994 movie version starring Robert De Niro utilize the same essential plot, but the movies criticize some of the great social questions that Mary Shelly presents within this novel, such as nature vs. nurture, quest of knowledge, loneliness and human injustice.
Should i change anything? too broad? not enough? would this work well for a compare and contrast essay? i just want to make sure im on the right track before i head too far ahead of myself. thanks for all the help.

Your paragraph shows promise, but the first sentence is a little fractured and over-long. You could try rewriting it as...
There are three editions of the famous Frankenstein story, the first, of course, is Mary Shelley's original novel written in _____. The second is the 75th etc... The third... They all use the same essential plot etc.
I think your introduction is a little brief to be honest. Have a look at the wikipedia entry on Frankenstein, read their introduction which discusses these 'great social questions' that you mention. Write a few sentences that summarise the book and it's social impact in your own words.
