The Story:
Fifteen years had passed since the slaying of Agamemnon. Orestes, Agamemnon’s son, arrived in Argos with his tutor. He traveled under another name, for Aegistheus, who had ruled in Argos since killing Agamemnon, had ordered him killed while he was still a young child. Orestes, however, had been saved, and reared by wealthy Athenians. Orestes was anxious to visit Argos, for his mother, Clytemnestra, now shared the throne with Aegistheus.
