"Across Five Aprils is a historical novel about a boy who grows up during the Civil War. Jethro's family farms in Southern Illinois and is divided about which side of the war to support."
Jethro Creighton was the author, Irene Hunts', real life grandfather. The book is a compilation of stories told by Ms. Hunt's grandfather, family letters and historical research.
The novel is considered a work of historical fiction, that is real history, and people are weaved into a story that is made up around actual fact. The facts of history are correct, the family sentiment is accurate, is every word of dialogue between the characters accurate, I would say no.
