Fifth Business is the first part of the Deptford trilogy, three novels which are interrelated. The Jungian psychology that is implicit in this first novel becomes explicit in The Manticore (1972) which presents the psychoanalysis of Boy Staunton's son David. The third novel World of Wonders (1979) focuses on Mag nus Eisengrim and a touring magic show.
