Roderick Usher was interested in the following:
1. Painting: "If ever mortal painted an idea, that mortal was Roderick Usher."
2. Music: Roderick Usher played stringed muscical instruments especially the guitar: "he thus confined himself upon the guitar."
3. Poetry: Roderick Usher composes and sings a ballad for the narrator when he visits him.
4. Books: Roderick had in his library a collection or rare books which dealt mainly with weird states of mental consciousness, the grotesque and death.
All his interests are vey much in keeping with his character and personality as a hypochondriac.
