Posted by eabettencourt on Wednesday October 1, 2008 at 4:23 PMSince it's for a project, and you may or may not have to actually supply the particular objects (I'm not sure based on your question), my advice in choosing objects to symbolize Beatty's personality is this: Think about his character traits, first of all. He seems rather confident/cocky in the beginning of the book. He is also consistently described as being fixated on fire (constantly lights and relights his igniter, for instance). As Montag grows bolder in questioning society, Beatty responds with a surprising knowledge of books - he seems capable of quoting from numerous genres and time periods of literature, etc. Towards the end of the book, Montag is convinced that Beatty wanted to die (ironically - death by fire). Keeping all these things in mind should help you when choosing objects to represent them. Good luck!
