She is a mindless drone who does nothing but watch TV and interact with friends who are just like her. She is happy with her existence because it requires no thought. She doesn't want to jeopardize her life as she has it. Guy's mind and eyes have been opened to what is going on in their world and he realizes that books have great value. He wants to keep the books and to read them. Millie wants none of that because she knows that if Guy is caught with books, she will be hurt in the fallout because he'll be arrested. She won't have a husband to take care of her.
