In "Fahrenheit 451" people haven’t time to read books and digests the information. Can you also recognize this trend today? Posted by abroader on May 24, 2009. |

In "Fahrenheit 451" the conflict wasn't that people didn't have time to read books and digest the information, the conflict was that it was illegal for people to even own or look at books. All reading material was being destroyed as it was found. The laws in Montage's society forbid anyone from reading. Today with all the electronic toys and gadgets there is less and less reading being done, but thankfully it is still a land of books, newspapers, magazines and all types of reading materials. Hopefully because of novels like 451 we will never have to face a future without books. Many people have chosen not to read in today's society and turn to the televisions for their news and often we see people reading only to garner part of the story and they are in too much of a hurry to digest the meanings, themes, and lessons within a book. Many people, however, do continue to read, think, and process what they read. Posted by ladyvols1 on May 24, 2009. |
