Does our government also try to prevent critical thoughts?

Every government in the World exercise control over spread of information and thoughts that are considered against the interest of people and the country. IN spite of all those talks about freedom of speech and freedom of press, every major country in the world has some law and mechanism of censorship. Most visible example of this in India and, I believe, in USA is the censorship of movies. All countries have a provision for banning printing, selling, and reading of certain books.

Whether, a book that is banned, represents critical thinking or not can be a matter of personal judgement, which may change from time to time. For example, the public perception of the book Lady Chatterley's Lover by D.H. Lawrence, published in Italy was not published in Britain until 1960, and even then its publisher, Penguin Books had to face action under "Obscene Publications Act". Today this book has acquired the status of a highly respected literary masterpiece.

I will conclude by saying that yes, government in major democracies like India, USA, and UK also prevent spread of some thoughts, that may be considered critical thoughts by others.
