Do you think revolution is inevitable in an oppresive society? What contemporary evidence can you provide to support this conclusion?

It seems that if oppressed long enough and harshly enough, any group of people would rebel.  The catch is that they would have to get a large enough underground group together and organize to do so.  Take the Iraqi people, for instance.  While there are many who are terrorists who continue to fight in the name of Sadam, most of the common people are happy to be out from under his crushing thumb.

I'm tempted to answer yes, but we have North Korea and Cuba to contend with. And dare we forget China? With the collapse of the Soviet Union, China has moved up in the ranks of superpowers, and its pseudo-capitalism seems to be keeping the people happy. Do the people of North Korea even realize how oppressed they are? The last I heard, they were not allowed to hear news from the outside world, so they are isolated in their little bubble. Maybe they think the rest of the world is like them.
