Excellent advice given by pohnpei397. It will be much easier if you decide what stand you're going to take and then stop worrying and just (like Nike) do it. With regard to point counter point, your writing will probably be stronger if your stand (thesis) is your "point" your acknolwedgment of other view points is your "counter point". It's okay to use information that disagrees with what you are trying to prove as long as you have plenty of...

You thesis is clear - punishment in needed. However, you have only one supporting argument, namely, punishment is a deterrent, but you have nothing else. So, you have to ask yourself, what other reasons are there to support your thesis that punishment is needed. More importantly, you need to realize that many people will disagree with you. Do you know why these people will disagree? Are their arguments strong? To make a solid argument, you...

As far as your thesis and its wording, maybe you could post it and get input that way. I think it would be easier for us to comment on something you've already put up than to try to anticipate your argument.
For dividing up the paragraphs, my preference (but I imagine this varies by teacher) would be for the paragraphs to be divided by argument. What I would want to see would be point-counterpoint (assuming you're doing that) on each...

I thought your question means that this is your intro to an essay and you want us to critique it. So hopefully between me and the first answer, one of us will be right...
I'll go sentence by sentence:
You should say "death," not dead.
"Faced" seems awkward to me. I'd say "answered." I'd take out "then" and I would replace "it" with "such acts."
Either take out "even" or put it before "be." I would say "their" instead of "these."...

If I understand your query correctly, you are seeking analysis on the validity of capital punishment. The quotation points to the deterrent nature of the death penalty. Essentially, it suggests that the fear of death would reduce criminal activity. I think that there could be much in the way of evidence and analysis to mitigate this point. Some would argue that the irrationality and lack of psychological coherency which causes...

I'm writing a research paper for my English class but I get really confused with what is expected of me from this paper!

First off, I chose "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" by Kesey. The topic I decided to go with was 'sexism' since there are a lot of critical commentaries on that. I have gathered plenty of sources (pro and counter arguments) and have an idea of what I will say.

That is an interesting thesis statement. I would just change a word or two so that it read like this: "Known as a metaphysical poet, John Donne’s love poems convey both his true life experiences as well as humanity's struggles in everyday life." That is, unless you are trying to say that the "struggles in everyday life" that you are talking about are those specific to Donne. If that is the case, I would consider wording it like this:...

Wow! Twenty pages is a fairly serious research paper. My first suggestion is to try and find a topic with which you are already somewhat familiar; I would not choose one that you know nothing about. This might also be a good time to choose a topic that you've always wanted to explore--that way, your interest will remain high. And, yes, you should make sure you have access to the necessary resource materials to supply you with your...

1. You can start with some statistics. This might show that these disorder are not far away from people, but that many people suffer. I will link a website with some statistics.
