I am currently in an advanced critical writing course in my sophomore year and our cumulative project is a research essay. The short of it is to use literature we have examined in class coupled with secondary sources for support to prove our thesis. but I am having a little trouble narrowing down my thesis. I would like to address the proportional amount of government participation in the lives of Americans and I think that the recent public health care bill would be a great example. Any ideas for a thesis or a good example?

If I may ask, which side are you planning to take on this?  Because that would really affect what kind of thesis or what example you might want to use.  Are you arguing that the government plays too much of a role in our lives or are you arguing the opposite?
