In the following viewpoint Frank E. Loy argues that conservation efforts provide hope for the world’s oceans and coastal areas. According to Loy, people now realize that ocean resources are not unlimited. As a result, rather than exploiting scarce resources, people are looking for better ways to conserve them. The United States and other nations have negotiated mutual agreements to protect endangered species and ban destructive fishing techniques, he claims.
