About 90% of students at Emory will graduate in 4 years. However, there are some notable exceptions. There are those who stay longer for degree completion reasons, such as if a student needs more time to complete his or her double major. Some students will also enter Emory with a lot of credits that they obtained with taking A.P. tests. However, there are also some students who obtain credits through transient study, which is when you take college classes at other colleges during the summer for credit. These classes must be pre-approved, otherwise the credits will not transfer. In addition, you cannot transfer anymore credits if you have reached the 64 credit limit, which, for most students, means that you can only do transient study the summer after your freshman year. Most students will do transient study to get complete their general education requirements, giving them a step ahead and allowing students to take classes in their major.
