Emory students are required to fulfill general education requirements or, also known as, GERs. These requirements demand that a student fulfill different classes under the social sciences, writing, history, math, and other sections. Recently, Emory revamped the requirements, allowing students to choose from several pages of classes for each section, unlike the previous GERs where students were only limited to a select few. The objective or initiative behinds Emory’s decision to do so was to allow students to explore classes they actually are interested in. The new GERs also have fewer classes to fulfill, meaning more time for students to complete their classes in their respective majors. Others ways of completing the GERs are through getting 4’s or 5’s on A.P. exams other through transient study.
