Question:
Does the story of General Gordon embody the spirit - and the contracditon - of his times?
I want to understand more about Gordon's remarkable story - from China to Africa, fighting the colonial wars on behalf of the British, at the height of their power. His personal characteristics are also compelling - a devout reader of the Bible, a man of action, and a warrior but sadly me met a most ignominious end. Please Discuss
