Students Speak Out On Overall Experience
“There’s this buzz around Emerson; it seeps through the sidewalks out in front of the buildings and echoes down the hallways. Just being there, walking to class, sipping your Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, and wiping the sleep from your eyes, you feel like you’re a part of something, like you’re tapped into the pulse of the underground current, the Bohemian vibe. Like Greenwich Village during the Beat revolution, it’s a mecca for the creative. Perhaps that has less to do with the actual institution and more to do with the students, but the fact remains. On the flip side, I have had some problems with the courses offered, specifically in the writing department; there just weren’t enough. By and large, however, I feel that I’m getting a solid education, and I’m sure the connections I’ve made and continue to make at Emerson will prove invaluable in the future. Emerson is definitely not for everyone, but if you happen to be a little left of center, it could be the place for you.”
“My experience at Emerson has obviously had its ups and downs, but overall, I have enjoyed my time here. For the cost of tuition, you better enjoy it here, too. I think that people who leave regretting the experience are foolish for not transferring. Emerson has so much to offer, but you have to be willing to take advantage of everything to get your money’s worth. You must make strong relationships with faculty in your department. You must take advantage of the opportunities to get involved in the student organizations, or create your own. It’s important to really understand why you are here in order to grow at this school. But once you’re sure that you’re studying something that you’re in love with, you’ll love it here, too.”
