- Commencement
At the beginning of the school year, freshmen and their parents are welcomed to Elon “Under the Oaks.” At this ceremony, the president of the university and of the Student Government Association, among other distinguished speakers, give words of inspiration to the students. At the end, each freshman is given an acorn. When they graduate in four years, they are then given a sapling, to signify them maturing and growing.
