The Editor

In this story, an anonymous editor, who speaks in a first-person, officious voice, interjects every once in a while. The voice is only formal, with no sense of personality: it is never clear whether this character is old or young, male or female. In the opening segment, the editor seems to be concerned that the narrator is trying to get out of performing his moral responsibility as a writer.
