Chapters 9-12 talks about how Melaine and April become friends and their initial thought that they have nothing in common vanishes. April is amused by Melaine's idea of playing with paper dolls and her creativity of being able to come with imaginative games.
Part of their imaginative games is to pretend that they are egyptian girls and they develop interests in Egypt. They read all about Egypt and start collecting amusing facts about tombs, temples, pharaohs, pyramids and mummies.
The following pages and chapters talk about how they develop their ideas into more significant scenes and they act those ideas out. Over time, Marshall, Melain's younger brother, joins in the game along with Ken and Toby, their classmates, and go through a whole lot of thrilling events. Elizabeth, a new classmate also joins in the game as the team feels that she looks remarkably alike Nefertiti, an Egyptian queen.
Marshall soon finds out that the entire egypt game team is being watched. At one part of the story, "Security", Marshall's toy octopus goes missing, and they frantically try locating it.
A murder takes place in the neighbourhood and the children are forbidden from going outside. The professor is suspected of the murder. But it was soon found out that it was the shop assistant of Mr. Schmitt who committed the crime.
