    After his parents die, Little Tree goes to live with his Cherokee grandparents in the mountains of Eastern Tennessee. THe novel shows his progress as he grows up, and how he helps his granparents stick up for themselves. In the process he learns how to stick up for himself too. Little Tree shows how commnunication with nature can help learn life lessons.
