Edna St. Vincent Millay is known primarily for her poetry rather than for her plays. In 1912 at the age of twenty, she entered a poetry contest with “Renascence.” Although her poem only finished fourth, it was included in The Lyric Year, which consisted of the top one hundred poems out of approximately ten thousand submitted.
