The Story:
Don Timoteo Limón was finishing his personal devotions
when he became aware that a dog had been continuously howling and
that he had forgotten to pray to several saints. Terrorized by the
plaintive sound of the dog, which recalled to him the tragedy of
his young daughter Rosalía, Don Timoteo had visions of past
events. One such event that made him feel guilty was his killing a
man in self-defense. The officials had exonerated him, but the
image of the dead man’s face still haunted him. He then
linked the dog’s howling to the fate of his son Damián
who had gone...
