I can only speak from the Elementary level, but it is the base of all learning. I feel that teacher collaboration is essential to great teaching and learning. I also feel that departmentalizing is a great program where teachers only teach a certain few subjects to 2 or 3 classes of students. This not only prepares our students for middle school and high school, but it allows the teacher to focus instruction and provide more subject based learning. The ESOL (English as a second language) program is VITAL to non-English students. It provides them with extra help, curriculum modifications, and support where needed. It also allows those students a chance to catch up without being penalized for their first abilities. This is even more important in elementary school, since it is the basis of all learning. I hope this has helped.
