Students Speak Out On Overall Experience
“Students should choose colleges for themselves—not just because a girlfriend or boyfriend is going there, but because it's somewhere that they think they want to go. Many couples who go to college together break up soon after they get to the school. Some of them may get back together, but there's no guarantee of that. If both partners choose schools for themselves and stay in touch, then the relationship may survive for a really long time. I gave up a scholarship to another school so I could stay with a girl at ECU. Ever since she broke up with me two weeks after our first semester, I have wished I could have gone back and taken that scholarship. New students need to realize that college is about developing themselves. They shouldn't just come to ECU, or any college, because they're following someone who, at some point, won't want them to follow anymore.”
“Food on campus is overpriced, and students need to be aware that if they get food from a place other than the dining hall during meal hours, the cashiers will ask them if they want to use a meal block on their food. If their total is more than the amount allotted for a ‘meal,’ then the cashiers will deduct money from the declining balance, too. This is not well advertised because it is such a convenient way for Campus Dining to drain students' money. I lost so much money that way during my first semester because my class schedule kept me from going to the dining hall at the right times. Other than being robbed of my limited money by the non-food service, I've had a good experience at ECU.”
