Know the slang, know the school. The following is a list of things you really need to know before coming to Earlham. The more of these words you know, the better off you'll be.

Brick City

College-owned student and faculty housing to the south of campus

College Ave.

The street that parallels the College on the east side; home to most College-owned houses

College Meeting for Worship

Weekly Quaker meeting in the meeting house Sundays at 11 a.m. Students and faculty are often invited to share their message.

Consensus

A Quaker practice of decision-making. Love it or hate it, everyone's got to agree with it.

Convenor

The leader of a campus group (known in most schools as the president)

Convocation

Lecture event held alternate Wednesdays at 1 p.m. Cookies and punch follow the Q&A section.
