How can I write a comparison of the heroes in Joyce's "Dubliners" and the heroes in Conrad's "Heart of Darkness"?

    That is a very good question for comparing.  But it's really easy.  If you know anything about them.  It's even easier I think.  All you do is write about what they have in common.  Like for example: comparing a dog and a cat.  One way you can compare them is they are both animals, they have fur and so one.  They are both different because one's a cat, and one's a dog.

    Check out the eNotes article "How to Write a Compare and Contrast Essay" at the link below. It gives step-by-step instructions on what to look for and how to write a comparison. Also, keep in mind that the "hero" in a text is the protagonist, or main character, not necessarily the most heroic person in the story. That shouldn't be too difficult with "Heart of Darkness," but "Dubliners" is a series of short stories, each one of which will have its own protagonist.
