Religious and political persecution in England was quite different from the Spanish Holy Inquisition, but they were both  powerful, cruel, and efficient  to their respective Royal Houses:   The Hapsburgs in Spain and the Stuarts in England.

- ¿ How was it possible  for contemporaries  W. S. and

M. de Cervantes, to avoid the rack or the Spanish shoes, or even the ax or the stake, with the  public presentation of several sentences and ideas which may well be contrary  against the respective regimes of                                   Philip II, or Elizabeth I -?

I mean,  the Inquisition was tough and rapid on national security, not clumsy and bureocratic as the NSA, or the french Surete, or M-6 ?

-  Ideas or bibliog. reference will be apprecitaed, and the origin will have special citation in my book.
