Yearbook/Journalism: Final Project
For my senior Yearbook/Journalism class, I asked students to complete this final project instead of a long exam. Students were asked to create a four page yearbook spread. I gave them large craft paper to work on (and to insure they planned properly before beginning their final project). Students were asked to create specific layouts and include specific aspects they had learned out during the class. Students were also asked to write a short article dealing with one of five journalistic issues (such as court cases pertinent to publishing or types of cameras). The assignment is highly detailed but could easily be adapted to fit any journalism class.
The second page of the assignment sheet contains a grading rubric. I gave out the rubric when I assigned the project so students knew exactly what I was looking for.
