This lesson plan has been developed to coordinate with Hamlet on Film, Macbeth on Film, Othello on Film, and Romeo and Juliet on Film. It has been designed to be be used in concert or individually as needed. This guide contains the first five daily lesson plans, called Introduction to Shakespeare on Film. They cover the basic concepts needed to understand Shakespeare films, but are also suitable for an introduction to the study of film in general.
The individual film guides each cover three films that are readily available on tape or DVD, and are listed in the filmography. The separate five units consist of five lesson plans each, dealing with the five acts of the plays Hamlet, Macbeth, Othello, and Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare.
