American History "Historical Investigation" Questions to Post in Room

Posted by alohaspirit on June 26, 2009

Teaching middle school its all about how you talk to your "kids." So I created a list of "Historical Investigation" questions in "kid" lingo to post in my room. As we go through a unit I will point to that question, and also have it written on the board to engage learning. I tell them that they are historical detectives, and in a lesson or two we are going to answer this question by investigating using "evidence" which is your materials such as primary, secondary sources, visuals, video, websites, etc. Its fun to just change the lingo and see how they actually become more engaged. I am thinking of next year making little badges for them with their name "Detective________"
"Crime Scene RM:_______"
I only started this last year, and did it for the first quarter so the topics range from: Government to Political Parties. I will be doing this every quarter starting this new schoolyear.
