Dickinson Slang

Know the slang, know the school. The following is a list of things you really need to know before coming to Dickinson. The more of these words you know, the better off you’ll be.

Deli-C

Deli Creations, the 24-hour convenience store and deli down the street from campus.

Dormcest

Refers to the amount of hookups between co-eds living in the same freshmen dorms, specifically when someone hooks up with two or more people living in their own building.

DPS

Dickinson Public Safety, the certified police officers that patrol the campus.

The Hub

The Holland Union Building. This is the main student center on campus and houses the cafeteria, the Underground, the Devil’s Den convenience store, the Union Station, and the bookstore, as well as many offices.

The Snar

The Union Station. Short for “snack bar,” students love the Snar because it has a huge variety of food.

The Quarry

The café on College. This is the favorite coffee shop and popular student hangout on campus.
