School Spirit

For having a student body of only 2,359 students, DePauw’s involvement in sports and school spirit is relatively high. Since the University is small and students are so involved, attendance is sometimes lacking, but loyal fans try to make it out for most games. Football games and tailgates generally have the largest attendance, with basketball as a close second.

The Monon Bell Game, DePauw’s game against their largest rival Wabash, is without debate the pinnacle of DePauw school spirit. The game sells out annually, filling the stands with students, parents, and alumni. Ring Sing the Monon Bell Pep Rally is also a huge campus event with nearly all Greek houses participating and most of campus in attendance.

Aside from game days, one will often spot students in DePauw apparel. Students seem genuinely proud of DePauw’s reputation, environment, and success. You can also see this in the alumni who are often present on campus for meetings or just passing through town.
