    Although the references are more veiled in this Canto, compared to others, one can argue that there is a connection to the Catholic Church. Canto 15 is the Canto of Violence against Nature, in which Dante poet places sodomites and alcoholics. He also mentions people who "have the tonsure," which means they are ordained, a clear reference to Catholic priests. Lines 103-104 is a direct reference to clerics, as endemic to clergy. Plus, there is an abuse of authority in this Canto, another possible reference.
