She is 45, from Nebraska and decides to search for her illegitimate son who she gave up for adoption. She is a woman who has suffered great loss in her life and this is her story. It is also a story of the Sioux Nation and the loss they have suffered and are still suffering from the white man. The story is about Michael, a drunk professor who uses Dalvafor his support system and who narrates the second part of the novel. This novel gives the reader a window into the world of ranching in Nebraska and the lives of those who still struggle to hold on to that life style.
