In Act I, Scene 1 of Arthuir Miller's "The Crucible," we find out that Reverend Samuel Parris has come across several girls/young women of Salem dancing naked in the woods.  He suspects that they are involved with witchcraft but, as you say, he does not tell what he has seen.

The major reason for this is that Parris wants to preserve his reputation.  His daughter and his niece and his slave were all among the dancers and he does not want people to know that his relatives and household members were involved.
