Fear of what is different is the basis of many conflicts but the monetary differences and social stratifications of society are also a big part of conflict. Look at one of the underlying issues in The Crucible-Parris was very bitter and jealous of Proctor's status and money, he mentions his salary or lack thereof continually. Historically, we have the same situation going on in the world. Didd the Iraqq war realy start becausse of WMD or because they are an oil rich nation that others were trying to take advantage of?
