Can someone please help me with the thesis to my essay?

The quote that I have been given is: "Belonging to a group or community can provide opportunities and disappointments."

I am having quite a bit of trouble with creating my thesis, and what I seemed to come up with was;

"Belonging to a group or community can instill upon ones aspects of opportunity through acceptance, and can also be affiliated with consumed emotions of disappointments through ostracism and feeling of loneliness."
This is exemplified by the actions of characters within the book The Crucible, the picture book The Rabbits and the film Gattaca.

I am categorizing my 3 body's under Acitve, Passive, and Negative Belonging or just under the 3 materials.

I will be using Gattaca for my example of Active belonging, as the protagonist goes to extreme measures to belong to a society that deem him as inferior.

For Passive Belonging I will be using The Crucible, and I will be using an example of someone who does not feel like they belong.

And lastly, for the example of Negative Belonging I will be using The Rabbits, because the "Rabbits", who are the foreign invaders, were forcing the native fauna or bilbies out of their homeland.

Can anybody help with my thesis? It seems too long and I do not know how to make it relate to my 3 materials, or the examples that I will be using from them. Thank You :)
