Conflict can not be resolved with violence.Discuss.

This question is better suited for the discussion boards. However, we can both point out some examples in this play to prove this statement correct.  Killing your opponent initially could be a solution, but what of your guilty conscience later?  I am sure that the townspeople involved were shadowed forever with what they had been caught up in and helped to do.  The judges?  Well, they were able to leave, weren't they?  They came in, did their job effiiciently, and did not go back on their decisions because they were worried about their reputations...even after evidence was presented that they, and many others, had made mistakes.

I would never advocate violence as a first reaction to solving a problem.  In self defense, perhaps.  The people in this play found that they were mistaken to jump on the bandwagon and hang or crush so many people.

I don't believe conflict can effectively be resolved through violence.  The key to working through conflict is to approach it calmly and with great thought.  To do this requires an open mind, willingness to empathize, and willingness to think for oneself, not as others necessarily think.  This was a huge problem, though, in this play.  Not doing so can lead to mistakes and dire consequences, as we learn in The Crucible
