Criminal Justice | A Victims’ Rights Constitutional Amendment Is Necessary

George W. Bush is the forty-third president of the United States. In the following viewpoint, Bush argues that the rights of criminals are duly protected by the U.S. Constitution, and the rights of their victims should also be protected. He asserts that few crime victims are kept informed about the status of the criminal proceedings; by ignoring them, the criminal justice systems victimizes them a second time. He concludes that a victims’ rights amendment would give crime victims a sense of justice and allow them to have more active participation in their cases.
