The Story:
When Edmond Dantès sailed into Marseilles harbor in 1815, he was surrounded by enemies. One of his shipmates, Danglars, coveted his appointment as captain of the Pharaon, and another, Ferdinand Mondego, wished to wed Mercédès, who was betrothed to Edmond.
