Students Speak Out On Overall Experience
“My overall experience at Cornell so far has been great. This can be attributed to the fact that I am a very hard working, outgoing, and optimistic person who is able to cut the negative out of his life and absorb the positive. I have made such great friends and had so many great times with my fraternity that it has drastically helped make my Cornell experience a good one thus far. However, since others do not share my drive and desires, I would not be surprised if many students have a miserable time at Cornell and wish they were at another school. Luckily for me, I can say that getting rejected from Princeton (my first choice) was one of the best things that ever happened.”
“People here are cold, unfriendly, and extremely competitive. Most classes grade on the bell curve. Notes are stolen all the time. People will not help you with homework unless you're great friends with them. Some people even lie if you ask for help so you'll get an answer wrong. People are very showy here in terms of the kinds of cars they drive, the brand names of clothes they wear, and what their parents do. Overall, the atmosphere is depressing. However, it does prepare you for the real world, depending on what you want to do. Most people here are superficial and way too uptight. Honestly, I've had some ups, but sometimes I wish I didn't come here.”
