I want to talk about in one of my main supports in my essay how because the narrator is a little boy who's innocent and naive, he chooses no side. The reader can get their own understanding of the story without the views of the narrator pushing the reader in his direction (his beliefs). Basically he chooses no side with racism.

To accomplish supporting your thesis, as you describe it above, you would simply need to find examples in the story where Avery gathers his own conclusions about his father and mother's actions/reactions/thoughts/words, where Avery experiences confusion about his parents' actions/reactions/thoughts/words, etc.  Because Avery sees both sides from his parents (racism, stereotyping vs. compassion/understanding), he experiences confusion about what HE should feel and think about other races.
