In her introduction to Engaging with Irigaray, Naomi Schor reminds readers of the well-known story of Irigaray and her critics, beginning with the large numbers who adopted positions resolutely pro and con based only on readings of Irigaray's early works, such as Speculum of the Other Woman (1985a) and This Sex Which Is Not One (1985b).
