Brown, Rita Mae 1944–

Brown, an American, writes conventionally structured novels about bright, beautiful, successful lesbians. Apart from the literary novelty of her heroines, Brown's popularity seems also to derive from her narrative ability and her energetic humor. She is best known for her first work, Rubyfruit Jungle.
