Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming to Connecticut College

  • COOP (Conn’s Outdoor Orientation Program) is worth considering if you’re into outdoorsy activities. You’ll make some friends before school even starts.

  • Orientation might seem silly and pointless, but it’s a great way to meet people and make first impressions.

  • The official Connecticut College mascot has one hump—don’t buy camel dolls/decorations with two!

  • Taking time to seriously plan out the layout of your room with your roommate(s) is not just a girl thing. Do it.

  • Unless you know exactly what you want to major in, take four classes your first semester that have nothing to do with one another. You might find something you love.

  • Connecticut College is a really preppy school.

  • Many students would rather complain about the social life than try doing something different.

  • Depending on how involved you are, the school can either seem like the hub of the universe or a desert island.
