Students Speak Out On Overall Experience
“I don’t regret having gone to Conn, but lots of my friends do. The school has a lot of problems. The administration is really good at concealing these problems to prospective students. There are major budget problems. There were lots of cutbacks over each of my four years. They expanded class size and cut the number of professors and classes offered. It was problematic for many of my friends. Dorms are getting overcrowded. The school is over-admitting and crowded. I had a good experience there, but the school is sort of a rip-off. Another thing is that when you study abroad, you pay Conn tuition. There isn’t a study abroad program in existence that costs more than Conn tuition. So you pay Conn tuition, and they pay for your program. You lose money; they make a pretty penny off you. If you try to do a semester abroad on your own terms they won’t transfer the credits. They are sneaky like that.”
“I loved my time at Conn and had a great time while I was there. Throughout my four years, I made many friends who I am still in touch with and professors who I will always talk to and update on my post-Conn life. I never wished I had gone anywhere else, but I did take advantage of studying abroad for a semester and would recommend doing so to everyone, as Conn is a bubble on a hill, and it is very important for one to experience the outside world. Your time at Conn is what you make it out to be—if you don’t do anything, you will be miserable. But if you find people, clubs, organizations, etc. that you enjoy, you will have an unbelievable experience.”
