I assume you are doing a paper on this book and need research to back up your assertions. You are looking to make sure that your sources are valid and authentic. When looking to find sources to back up literary analysis, you want to look for authors that have requisite qualifications. Authors that have a degree in literature, or who have been published in reputable magazines/journals for their commentary on literature, are the ones to trust. If you can not find any information on the author him/herself, don't trust the source. When dealing with websites, look not only for information on the author, but for a copyright date for the site. Sites that have not been copyrighted have no claim to validity, as you don't know who has been tampering with the information. Overall, though - if there is no author, or if the author has no qualifications listed, avoid the source. Posted by sullymonster on Apr 20, 2008. |
