What should I prepare for the PSAT?

Hi everyone, I'm a junior and am going to take the PSAT on Wednesday next week; I really, really want to score well.  So, I think I need to put a huge effort to prepare for it, but I need help from everyone. Please provide me websites, books, guidelines, tips, experiences, practice tests, etc... and especially some tips that I could master before the test...

All of your advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Your media center at school should have workbooks and/or computer programs that assist in PSAT preparation.  Also, the counselors usually have practice booklets for such tests as the ACT, so they will probably have that, if not actual PSAT practice books.  Since you have only a short time before you take the exam, these booklets will probably suffice.  For the actual SAT, you will wish to review those subjects in which you will be tested for competency.

Hopefully, you have been reading throughout your life, for being a good reader is crucial.  One student, who was not much of a reader, did improve by reading articles from Newsweek, Time, etc.  He found that his reading speed improved as did his comprehension of main ideas, supporting ideas, etc.  A review of some literary terms is not a bad idea since these figures of speech are often used by professional writers, journalists, etc.

Most importantly, get a GOOD sleep for two days, at least, before you take the test.  Eat breakfast on the day of the exam, taking in some carbohydrates and drink caffeine, if you can.  Recent studies show that caffeine improves analytical thinking ability.

Good luck! Check out the sites listed below:
