Do our grade 10 final exam grades determine whether we would get into MIT...or is it just our SATs and other final exams?

If 10th grade final exams determined who received admission to MIT, they would have an extremely large freshmen class every year.
When colleges look to see whom they admit, they look at a candidate's overall application materials. The materials help the admissions officers select not only the best candidate, but the right candidate as well.
A good way to measure what colleges are looking for is to go to https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/default.aspx and fill out the complete form to see what schools look for in candidates. You will notice several sections that ask for grades, test scores, academic honors, non-academic honors, extra curricular activities, etc., and written essays to see how well you communicate.
Then ask yourself, "Can I prepare myself in the next two years to have adequate scores, grades, accomplishments, etc, to get into the school of my choice?" Only you can answer that question. But you now know what schools want, as opposed to filling out a college application for the first time as a senior and have no time to add anything or do something that schools want. I wish you the best of luck!

Your total high school GPA will surely be looked at, so I would say that your 10th grade final exams will matter in that light. But MIT is an exclusive and highly academic institution. I would imagine there are many other aspects of YOU that they will look at too.
Community service and honors received while in high school can only help your cause. Make a difference, be outgoing and make yourself known within your community, church, athletics, local food bank, etc. In other words, volunteer whenever and wherever you can. Make yourself known for whatever you are best at and gain adult friends and advocates who can attest to your strength of character, responsibility and sense of purpose.
